Be Afraid Be Very Afraid
You have to.
When was the last time you put yourself in a situation that caused you a heap of fear?
How exhilarating did it feel when you smashed through it?
Let me share….
Monday night… the Melbourne Comedy Theatre, my husband Tim and I along with a couple of hundred other onlookers, well-wishers and cheer squads, walked up the worn-out steps, walls plastered with posters of people such as Jimeoin, Akmal, Stephen K Amos and more, paid our $15 entry free, grabbed a cheap glass of shiraz and sat down to watch a dozen amateurs hit the stage and strut their stuff in their debut stand up comedy routine.
What did these people teach us? That nothing matters…
Self deprecation, forgotten lines, made up segues, fidgety stances, total unpc messages…
At the end of the day we all have to connect and in doing so undoubtedly must realise not everyone will laugh at our jokes, not everyone will ‘get’ our stories, not everyone will understand our ‘humour’, not everyone will appreciate our message or the way we deliver it.
But the important thing is that we did laugh, we told our stories and by default we left an indelible mark through our message.
So be afraid. Step into your spotlight and be very afraid and those that matter will applaud you.
Be Bold and Brilliant!
