When asked what gave Bernadette the right to speak on these topics, she answered:
“One of the many experiences I bring to the table, that has me believe this is such a pivotal message for sales teams, leaders and business groups is due to my husband and I falling from financial grace not so long ago. Being bedridden for one year due to illness led to business failure due to a lack of sales, home foreclosure, job loss and having zero access to cash which impacted both physical and mental health. At fifty years of age, my husband, Tim and I found ourselves bankrupt and deep in Australia’s welfare system and as a result we had to get very real with ourselves to get back in the game. Why this message is so important to business owners, CEOs, leaders and salespeople, is that not only do you need sales, but trying to cope, find new business, beat the competition and retain top staff, requires more than being strong, robust or resilience. It’s about operating from a space of ‘absolute certainty’ so that you are better prepared for the future no matter the uncertainty. It pivoting off those losses, those tough times, those uncertain moments and becoming stronger because of those experiences. I reckon we need to get better about willingly inviting uncertainty in, and bravely saying, ‘Come Get Me!’.

Thanks for stopping by my speaker page. You’ve seen all the business related focus but I want to share a bit more of me as a person.
As a mum, I feel I have won the jackpot. With two adult children they are my biggest ‘show and tell’ story. Danielle, my daughter is not only drop dead gorgeous, she is a 10 year veteran of the Royal Australian Air Force having achieved the rank of Sergeant in record time, served in the Middle East and now in a sales and customer service role with David as her amazing partner. Matthew is my son, a past leader in the Air Force cadets, an all-sports fanatic and sports coach as well, and a successful B2B sales account executive, with Yasmin as his partner in crime.
Tim, as many of my audiences get to know, has been my rock and we have been married (happily!) for, dare I admit it, over a quarter of a century. And he just happens to be a National Sales Manager!
Not only is sales and leadership clearly in the blood… you can only imagine our conversations over dinner!
I love to read and write, I pretend to be a great golfer and I openly laugh at my own attempts at humour.
